The forerunner of jersey returns to live on the catwalks of Milano Moda Donna.

The Martino Midali maison is preparing to celebrate not only its first 40 years, but also to launch a strong message against violence against women, at a time when feminicides are a terrible and increasingly daily reality. On the other hand, the relationship between fashion and real life has always been at the center of Martino Midali’s proposal, who from the outset designs garments that women “must not only wear but – he says – reinterpret”.

On 20 September, in the neo-Renaissance setting of Palazzo Turati, the models walked the catwalk wearing the capsule collection created for the occasion, according to the philosophy that has always distinguished the designer: “it is not the dress that dresses women, it is women who put on my dress”. And that’s not all: the fashion show will be a real tribute to Jersey, the striped one, which marked the brand’s success thanks to the designer’s unprecedented intuition.

“We are celebrating the 40th anniversary of the brand and its contemporary and creative attitude which today more than ever represents the dynamic declination of the spirit of individuality, research and innovation. I have always wanted my creativity to emerge and for it to transform women, to dress them according to their personality. Mine has always been a free fashion and today I have a proud awareness: that of having given life to a democratic, inclusive fashion that has told a lot and continues to do so”, comments the stylist.

For this unique event – which kicks off the celebrations for her 40-year career – Midali has in fact created 12 looks, which will retrace her personal and visual journey in the world of women’s fashion. The fashion show is also dedicated to the fight against violence against women: ‘Love doesn’t hurt’ is the message of the limited edition T-shirt created in collaboration with the textile designer Debora Delli, to reiterate the extremely urgent need for a world free from violence and gender discrimination.

Jersey, always a faithful ally of all forms of femininity, due to its ductile characteristics, and cornerstone of the brand, is obviously among the great protagonists of this special collection, as is the striped pattern, another essential signature of the Midali style. Together, they have always contributed to the wearability of clothes designed to enhance all female bodies, a concept that has always accompanied the work of the designer, one of the first ever to conceive a fashion truly designed for women.
